Watch scenes from Pope Benedict XVI's departure from the Vatican.Today is Pope Benedict's last day as the leader of the Catholic church. The pope greeted Cardinals at the Vatican and promised 'unconditional obedience' to his successor , it has been rumored that the next Pope will be an african one , The Catholic church has 117 Cardinals, 12 of them are Africans. Of those 12 "Black" Cardinals, six of them are under 80 years old and could be elected to the position of Pope.

  1. How very, very sad. I was never as big of a fan of Pope Benedict as I was of Pope John Paul II, but for Catholics and Christians EVERYWHERE, I know what follows. May God in His Mercy sustain ALL of His children in the days ahead. God Speed Pope Benedict, and may our Heavenly Father, as well as the "Blessed Mother" be ALWAYS by your side.
